BUTEX Goes Digital: Inside the HyperTAG-Engineered State of the Art Data Centre

Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) is the country’s only specialized public university dedicated to textile education and research. Located in Dhaka, it plays a vital role in advancing Bangladesh’s textile and apparel sector—one of the nation’s largest export industries. With a strong focus on engineering, innovation, and industrial collaboration, BUTEX produces skilled graduates and researchers for national and global textile markets.

Project Overview

To modernize its digital infrastructure and improve service delivery across academic and administrative domains, BUTEX has established a full-fledged Data Centre within its Academic Building. The facility was designed, developed, and deployed by HyperTAG Solutions Ltd., a leading technology company with extensive experience in enterprise systems and university automation.

The Data Centre acts as the foundation for all digital operations at BUTEX, including the newly implemented 39-module University Management Software (UMS), e-learning systems, and future smart campus initiatives.

Core Infrastructure Components

The deployment includes:

4× 42U Server Racks

8× Enterprise-Grade Servers

Managed Layer-3 Switches and Routers

Campus-wide Structured Cabling

Patch Panels and Network Segmentation

Power Backup (UPS + Generator Integration)

Precision Cooling & Environmental Monitoring

Fire Safety & Suppression Systems

Access Control, CCTV Surveillance, and Physical Security

The Data Centre is fully operational and maintained on-site, with future-ready architecture supporting virtualization and hybrid cloud scalability.

Integrated with University Management Software (UMS)

The facility supports BUTEX’s comprehensive UMS developed by HyperTAG, comprising 39 interlinked modules. These cover:

  • Academic workflows (admission, exams, result publication)

  • Financial and HR automation

  • Hostel, library, transport, and store management

  • Alumni, research, and stakeholder engagement

  • Learning Management System (LMS) and mobile app interface

This integration enables full digital visibility, reduces manual processes, and ensures accountability and performance monitoring across the institution.

Security and Compliance

All systems conform to national ICT guidelines and higher education governance frameworks. Key features include:

  • Multi-level authentication and access control

  • Regular backup and data recovery planning

  • Environment redundancy and disaster readiness

  • Logging and audit trails for transparency

Strategic Outcome

The establishment of the Data Centre marks a significant milestone in BUTEX’s digital transformation journey. It enables the university to operate with modern standards of efficiency, scalability, and security—positioning it to become a smart campus in the near future.

HyperTAG Solutions Ltd. is proud to have contributed to this advancement by delivering a robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure aligned with the university’s long-term digital goals.
